Toward a Better Visualization: Adaptive Information Visualization

Introduction Information visualization techniques aim to help the users deal with voluminous information by reducing their mental workload. However, the visualization techniques themselves often cause an adverse effect on the users. Instead of reducing information overload, they impose yet another mental workload due to the complexity in the visual data they try to visualize as well as the graphical user interface the users have to learn how to operate in order to work with a visualization tool. Recent literatures in information visualization domain pointed out the needs to improve information visualization techniques as well as the evaluation methods.
